Our History

While boarding an airplane in Arizona on March 14th, 2011 at 7 o’clock in the morning - just days after his 30th birthday and the start of a new decade in his life - Pastor Derrick W. Hutchins, II heard the voice of the Lord say, “You can’t birth a new thing in an old womb. When you return home, things will be different.” He immediately went into consecration to seek God concerning the new thing He desired to birth through him. It was out of that time of stillness before God that the ministry was born.

God inspired Pastor Hutchins to start a ministry for a people of power - a ministry that would be a place of prayer and pure worship, and where people would learn to live a victorious daily life. Even the ministry’s name would reflect their ‘status’ in life.

On April 10, 2011 Pastor Hutchins stepped out in faith, not knowing what his support base would be, and birthed Victorious Believers Ministries, affectionately known as VBM, in a local hotel. God favored the ministry and at its first meeting, approximately 140 people joined. Out of a very dark time in Pastor Hutchins’ life, God gave birth to his ministry, and restored his joy.

Pastor Hutchins and his ministry team immediately began organizing the ministry and seeking a more permanent home. They developed the mission statement and core values, trained leadership and encouraged commitment and good stewardship. The search for a home ended when, on Mother’s Day, God miraculously led Pastor Hutchins to a facility that another ministry was vacating. VBM acquired the facility, renovated it and on June 12, 2011, moved in – just seven weeks after its formation. God continued to show Victorious Believers Ministries great favor as it furnished the facility without any debt. VBM is described by some as "a storefront church with a mega ministry mindset.”

On August 20, in the presence of fellow clergy, family and friends—Pastor Hutchins was officially installed by the Jurisdictional Bishop as the Pastor of VBM.

With a current membership of more than 200....and growing - VBM is a kingdom-focused ministry endeavoring to fulfill a commitment to evangelism, discipleship, worship, fellowship and ministry.

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. --II Corinthians 2:14
